Central Romana Corporation

Water Supply Services

Servicios de Agua

The Central Romana Corporation has been providing water to the city of La Romana, by means of its own aqueduct, built over 20 years ago with a production of approximately 3,000 gallons of potable water per minute. The distribution of water contributes significantly to the needs of the La Romana population and represents around 40% of the water consumed. The Central Romana Corporation constructed the aqueduct through its own initiative and investments, without government assistance. Furthermore, the company also provides its own electricity for pumping the water from the wells that supply the water to the city's aqueduct.

Worried about how to optimize the distribution of water, which is so limited in the eastern region, the Central Romana Corporation financed several complete in-depth studies, including execution level plans, carried out by recognized Dominican technicians, for the building of the Duey and Sanate damns, all with the goal of finding the optimal use of this scarce resource. The company has also financed studies for the construction of small hydroelectric water falls that may be taken advantage of by the government once they take the initiative in the project.
