Among its many achievements, the Central Romana Corporation has been a pioneer of the Dominican Republic's tourism industry. Having ventured into tourism after seeing the successful evolution of its businesses as well as to fulfill the desire of the Dominican Government to promote this promising economic activity.

As the development of the industrial free zone and the installation and opening of numerous foreign companies, a demand for the availability of lodging for the executives of these companies grew. As a result the Central Romana Corporation saw an opportunity to turn an existing employee club house into a small hotel, the Hotel Romana. This small venture sparked a variable boom in the tourism industry, in which the Central Romana Corporation has played a leading role in the region and the country.
