Centro Medico

The health sector is one of the fields in which the Central Romana Corporation has been a major contributor. In the year 1912, the company constructed the first hospital in the region of La Romana. At that time the hospital was divided into two divisions: one for the workers and the other for the administrative employees. During the year 1916 a new and larger hospital was built, in which all patients were integrated.

During the following decades, the company constructed other medical offices near the railroad tracks and rural areas, all of which are still operated by Central Romana today.

Today, the Central Romana medical center employs 40 doctors and it contains 82 beds, two surgery rooms, two delivery rooms, a modern laboratory, three x-ray machines and various other areas equipped with modern equipment. More than 100,000 people directly benefit from the healthcare services provided by the Central Romana Corporation. The company's dedication to the health of its community is another clear example of the commitment to social responsibility.

Recently, the Company began a project to expand the facilities of the Central Romana medical center. This expansion will more than double the hospitals' current capacity and include the installation of state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that both the city of La Romana and the growing number of tourists in the region are able to receive the best medical treatment available.
