Livestock is another example of how the Central Romana Corporation has had the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the local industry, and becoming a national leader in the livestock field. The company began its first cattle operations at the beginning of the last century, shortly after they initiated the sugar cane production. In the beginning, the primary goal was the creation of high quality oxen for the work related to the sugar cane harvesting.

The Central Romana Corporation was the Dominican Republic's pioneer in the use of the artificial insemination methods, an initiative that ultimately lead to the creation of the famed Romana Red breed. The Romana Red, a breed of bovine unparalleled in strength, ideal for agricultural work, and an excellent producer of meat.

The factors that propelled the Central Romana Corporation into the meat production and distribution business, where the growth of the tourism sector of the Dominican Republic and the increase in demand for good quality meat. Currently the meat production business supplies its products to all the hotels of the country, something made possible by having an extensive infrastructure including its own cattle slaughter house, the production of swine livestock and water buffalo.

The company also owns 60 heads of water buffalo, which are popular not only for their abundance of meat, but also because its milk is used in the manufacturing of the well-known mozzarella cheese. The company has also pushed the development of the Romanero Horse, a high productivity steed with ample use in the agricultural industry in the country; currently the company has over 3,000 horses.

Today, the company has more than 60,000 heads of livestock of excellent quality. This large inventory of livestock makes Central Romana the largest supplier of meat in the national market and one of the major contributors of the dietary requirements of protein that Dominicans consume daily.
